John Piper Interviews Rick Warren on Doctrine — This is a very helpful and clarifying interview if you can spare the 98 minutes to watch it (or you can skip to various spots to hear answers to specific questions using the index on the page). I have shared Piper’s concerns with Warren’s doctrine and methodology, but I also share in his ability to rejoice in the fruitfulness of another’s ministry.

White House Adds New Position to Deal with Unfavorable Media — This administration’s treatment of and control over the press is unprecedented in this country. Sad.

Classical Rhetoric 101: Logical Fallacies — The final post in what has been an excellent series is perhaps the best one. It serves as a great primer on logical fallacies, which are far too little understood and far too commonly used in today’s rhetoric.

Disbelieving Free Will Makes Brains Less Free — An interesting study on the effects of disbelief in one’s capacity to make conscious free choices, which is the logical conclusion of belief in naturalistic evolution. If all we are is the product of mindless, purposeless forces, how can there be such a thing as free will? (Don’t believe me? Hear atheists Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins explain why evolution and free will are incompatible here. Or Dr. Will Provine here and here.)
