The Movies and America

After taking the summer off, the Humanitas Forum is back! As many of you know, this is a series of discussions here in Cookeville dealing with issues related to Christianity and culture. Laurie and I try our best to attend every Humanitas event, and they are always excellent!

This Friday evening, Dr. Drew Trotter, Executive Director of the Consortium of Christian Study Centers, will be speaking on the topic “Movies and America: What the Academy Award Nominees for Best Picture Tell Us about Ourselves”.  Trotter will “make a case for the Academy Award nominees for best picture as both a barometer and a shaper of current American moral and intellectual standards.” It should be very interesting! As always, a Q&A session will follow his presentation.

The Forum will begin at 7:00 Friday night at Nashville State University. You can learn more about this event and others in the Humanitas series by clicking here. I hope to see you there!
